IBA(세계경호협회)는 1957년 12월 프랑스 공수특전부대 야전사령관 루시엥 빅토르 오뜨(Lucien Victor Ott. 1931~ 1990. 알제리 태생) 소령에 의해 설립된 세계 최초, 최대의 국제표준 경호전문가 조직이다. 전세계 영역에 걸친 경호 활동은 물론, 전문 보디가드 양성을 위한 훈련 거점을 세계 각국에 확장해 나가고 있는 최초의 국제 보디가드 양성 기관이기도 하며 각 해외 국가들과 국제기구 등에서 경호, 대테러 보안, 민간군사를 통한 외교, 경비 서비스의 중추적인 역할을 하고 있는 세계 최대의 표준경호기구이다. Each IBA course is authenticated through a diploma issued to the trainee signed by the Director General and impressed with the legal seal of the International Bodyguard Association.

경호원의 자질
요인 경호임무를 위하여 선발된 경호요원은 정신적, 신체적 조건이 우수해야하며 신뢰성, 용모, 지능, 논리 정연함, 비상상황 발생시 즉각적으로 정확한 판단을 할 수 있는 능력 등의 자질을 가지고 있어야 한다. 경호 요원은 피경호인을 방호하기 위하여 자신의 생명을 기꺼이 희생할 수 있어야 한다. 만약 피경호인이 외국인이라면 피경호인의 사용하는 언어를 구사하는 것이 바람직하므로 수시로 외국어 습득에 신경을 써야 할 것이다. 경호를 전문으로하는 요원들의 사생관이며 경호원의 존재목적은 위기 상황시 자기 자신을 희생하여 피경호인을 안전하게 보호하는데 있다. 경호원은 경호대상자의 절대안전을 위해 존재하는 것이므로 훈련방법 역시 경호대상자의 안전을 우선한 입장에서 개발하고 훈련하여야 한다.

ILETA provide a number of specialist training programmes ranging from Air Security Officer Counter Terrorist Training ILETA Specialist Courses History - Internatioal Law Enforcement Training Agency - I.L.E.Т.А. The International Law Enforcement Training Agency was established in 1976 as the Police Defensive Tactics Study Group of the Combat Training Team, based at the then Royal Marines Commando Depot in Deal, Kent. In 1982 it became the Law Enforcement Training Association with Lucien Ott as its' President. It's purpose was initially to pioneer Lucien Ott's 'Defense et Security' method for Law Enforcment personnel in Government, Police and the Armed Forces, and later in the Private Security Industry. Between 1976-1985 it was responsible for training Police officers from the following British Constabularies: Metropolitan Police, Norfolk, Suffolk, Sussex, Devon & Cornwall and West Yorkshire Police Defensive Tactics, Methods of Arrest and Restraint, Police Impact Weaponry. Police offficers from the Liege Anti-Bandit Unit and 20 Municipalities and Special Units were trained in Belgium. In 1980, as part of Operation Peacekeeper the SWAT team of the principal US Bases were trained at RAF Alconbury and prior to it's closure the Security Police at RAF Lakenheath were trained in Police Defensive Tactics.
